Ipamorelin

Also known as: GHRP (growth-hormone-releasing peptide), ghrelin receptor agonist

Selective growth hormone secretagogue (ghrelin / GHS-R1a receptor agonist)

Overview

Ipamorelin is a selective growth hormone secretagogue that stimulates GH release by activating the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). It is often favored over older GHRPs because clinical research (published in the European Journal of Endocrinology) found it produces dose-dependent GH release with little or no effect on ACTH and cortisol, giving it a comparatively clean side-effect profile among GHRPs. It is frequently stacked with CJC-1295 for a synergistic GH pulse, although controlled human outcome data specifically on the combination remains limited. It is not FDA-approved for human use and is prohibited in sport.

Commonly Reported Uses

These are uses commonly discussed or marketed by users and vendors — not a list of proven or approved benefits, and not a recommendation.

  • Stimulating GH/IGF-1 for fat loss and lean-mass support — marketed claim
  • Recovery and sleep quality — marketed claim, limited controlled human outcome data
  • Often combined with CJC-1295 ('CJC/Ipa') — marketed stack

What to Track

Data points you and your clinician might monitor. For observation only — not a diagnostic protocol.

  • Labs — IGF-1 at baseline and follow-up; fasting glucose / HbA1c
  • Body composition — InBody body-fat % and lean mass
  • Whoop — slow-wave sleep and recovery trends
  • Subjective — sleep quality, appetite (ghrelin pathway may influence hunger), recovery

Safety & Legal Notes

NOT FDA-approved for human use. Its compounding status has been under active FDA review (it appeared on restricted compounding lists, and 2026 reclassification/PCAC review is ongoing) — status is fluid and reclassification is not approval. PROHIBITED in sport: growth hormone secretagogues including ipamorelin are explicitly on the WADA Prohibited List (Section S2). Long-term human safety is not established. Consult a licensed clinician.
